Nimbougou schoolchildren marching in line before class.
From January 1994 to April 1996 I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mali, West Africa. I lived in the large rural Senufo (Suppire) village of Nimbougou (Nemougou), tucked away in the hills of southeastern Mali near the borders of Burkina Faso and Côte D'Ivoire. Here are some of my close friends, co-workers, and favorite images from Mali.

As a sculptor, my experiences in Mali have found their way into my sculpture. Read my artist's statement and view my sculpture to learn how.
