The original of this bronze piece was sculpted in Victory Brown wax. The design was originally inspired by a Igbo-Izzi elephant spirit mask from the Abakaliki region of Nigeria. However, as I experimented more with the form, it transformed into more of a warthog. The warthog is a popular motif among the Senufo of Mali, Côte D'Ivoire, and Burkina Faso.
